In1995, I took my passion for child protection on the road.  I became the Region 5, Regional Attorney for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS).  Before long, I was promoted to TDFPS Managing Attorney for all of East Texas.  Most people know this agency simply as "Child Protective Service" or "CPS".  I saw first hand how the problems facing children usually began with a dysfunctional marital family situation...so I made a major career decision to specialize in the broader area known as "Family Law".   My competitive spirit led me to aim for the top...so I headed for the "Big City" (Houston, Texas), and I set my sites on the highest qualification available - Board Certification in Family Law.  I achieved my goal in 1998.

1999 TO 2015 -  WORKED WITH SENATOR JOHN CORNYN, GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT, AND TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL KEN PAXTON.

1981 TO 2015 -  LEAD COUNSEL AND ATTORNEY OF RECORD IN THOUSANDS OF SUCCESSFUL FAMILY LAW CASES ACROSS TEXAS.

2010 TO 2015 -  RESPONSIBLE FOR 12,000+ ACTIVE FAMILY LAW CASES ACROSS THE 14 COUNTY AREA FROM JUNCTION TO SONORA, TO ROBERT LEE,TO BRADY AND BEYOND.

During my tenure with the TAG's Office, I received numerous awards and commendation, but in 2010 I was selected as the AAG of the Quarter, and immediately after that, in 2011 I was named by Governor Greg Abbott as the "Assistant Attorney General of the Year."  In 2012, I was further honored by the Texas Attorney General who asked me to be a "Presenter" at the annual state-wide Assistant Attorney General Conference in Austin, where I lectured on "Ethics" to a full-house of my Texas AAG colleagues.

My decision in 2015 to retire from the TAG's Office and return to private practice was a difficult one, but the knowledge and insight I gained over 15 years with the TAG, and all those thousands and thousands of cases I handled for the TAG will be invaluable to my clients in the future.

The biggest "Family Law" firm in Texas is...the Texas Attorney General's Office.  So, in 1999 I became an Assistant Attorney General in the highly acclaimed Child Support Division.  During my 15 years with the Agency, I worked for U. S. Senator John Cornyn, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and the current Texas Attorney General, Kenneth Paxton.  The pace and workload at the AG's Office is incredible, especially at the Beaumont, Texas, office where it was not uncommon for me to go to court on more than 100 cases at a time.  At the San Angelo, Texas, office the active file workload averaged around 12,000 at any given time.

"OUTSIDE THE LAW"!

Outside of the law practice, I was a faculty member of Lamar University, teaching for several years in their exceptional Paralegal Degree Program.  I loved working with college kids, and for nearly 20 years I was the organizer, co-sponsor, and senior official for a major NCAA intercollegiate Men's Varsity tennis tournament in Beaumont, Texas.  The best part of the tournament was getting local families to keep the kids in our private homes.  The players came from all over the world and quickly became a permanent part of each host family.  We now have ties to wonderful young men in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, South America...and beyond.
